Below is a copy of Longview's Active community Strategy which sparked our beautiful Trail that will be completed this summer! The initial funding came from ARPA via the Alberta Cancer Prevention Society to both develop this strategy under the guidance of Coaches provided by ARPA( Alberta Recreation and Parks Association) This document contains valuable information that was collected from residents in 2013. It should be viewed as a living document and was formally adopted by Council in February 2015 with an attached policy reflecting Councils support of free community events and programming via the use of non monetary town assets like the hall, park, tents, parking signs etc. ARC was the group who applied for and completed the strategy for both submission to the Province  and Community. It gives us a nice road-map when combined with the Village 2010 Municipal Sustainability Plan. Happy reading.

Hello Longview Neighbours. Many thanks to Dennis, Harry, Jim, Tony, Colette, Doris, Jack and Justin for completing the installation of the new chain link fence along the west side of the green space! We have decided to begin Phase one of the Trail construction on September 12th. To begin with we will be marking out the trail as it was laid out in the conceptual design. Once marked we will remove the sod layer with a sod cutter so will need help rolling the sods up. Once the sod layer has been removed our competent and cheerful cat operator Jim Beal will remove the next 6 to 7 inches of soil. Then we will layer the proper rock base in a 4 inch and 2 inch layer. This will be compacted a s we go. We will then leave it to settle over the winter months and apply the final one inch layer of Solepave Resin and gravel to create the top layer which also includes the Core Glo stones. The benches and historical signs will be completed in the spring as well.
